Remember to Pray

Filed under: General — Phyllis Rice @ 4:59 am

I wanted to remind you all to pray today for Gradie Lamb. He is in the hospital and is not doing well. Pray for Nancy too that she will have the strength to do for him all the things she needs to do. Also, pray for the Sunday service. It’s Father’s Day and there will be fathers there that may not be there any other time.

I finally got all the church pictures on the church photos link to the right of this post. They are in categories called albums. Just click on the album of the pictures you want to see and that’s all there is to it. I usually “view them as a slideshow”. I hope you all enjoy them. I will be adding pictures as I take them.

I hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you Sunday. But don’t forget the previous post on your dad. We still want to hear about how great your dad is/was.

About Our Dads

Filed under: General — Phyllis Rice @ 5:02 am

Well, Father’s Day is coming up and sometimes we are guilty of not paying as much attention to our dads as we do the moms. So, we want to give you the oppurtunity to brag on your dad or your husband. Even if they are not with us any more as my dad is in heaven today. I hope we can all find something good to say about our dads.

Even those of you who are not a part of Mt. Jackson, we would love to have you be a part. God bless you all and I pray you have a blessed Father’s Day weekend.

Thanks Ladies!

Thank you for the wonderful fellowship we enjoyed last night at the ladies meeting. It is such a joy to spend time with you all. Brenda gave us some things to think about on the subject of womens friendships and you all had some really good comments. We had good food too. Pictures are here.

James will have the teens again tonight so pray for him as he works with these kids, that he might be a blessing to them.

Have a great day and see ya tonight.

Sunday, June 10th

Filed under: Sunday Review — Phyllis Rice @ 7:26 am

Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone had a good start to the work week.

Yesterday our heroes series continued with Mary. A lot of good stuff about her was brought out. Julia did a great job on the song “Mary Did You Know”. And what about that choir. Charley and I were talking this morning about what a good job they did. Then Brenda as usual did wonderful on her song “The Judgement”.

Speaking of Brenda, Friday was her birthday and Charley and I had the privilege of joining her for her birthday dinner at Chili’s, courtesy of Nancy and Gradie. A few pictures are here.

The teens spent the afternoon over at the church grilling hot dogs and were supposed to watch the race but had to resort to video games because the race had a rain delay. Thanks to James for the work he puts in to make sure those teens stay occupied.

I hope you all have a great week and don’t forget the new childrens church program coming soon to Sunday nights. Also, Bible school in about a month. We still need workers so let Donna know if you can help.

Misc. Stuff

Filed under: Uncategorized — Phyllis Rice @ 6:34 am

What a great Wednesday night service we had last night. James had close to 20 teens over in the gym. They had a great time. We even had to send home a few kids who tried to come but weren’t old enough. The regular service brought out some great ideas you all had about how we can reach out to the community. Thank you for all your input.

Remember to pray for the Sunday service that God will send to us the people He wants to be there. Just imagine what could happen if all of us were to make this our prayer between now and Sunday.

Again I want to say thank you to everyone who has a part in making our church work together. I cannot tell you what a blessing each one of you has been to us this last year. (almost a year) Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Jerry Falwell

Filed under: General — admin @ 11:52 am

Jerry Falwell was a great man. There is no denying that God used him to accomplish big things. But there were many who did not like him. Some said he was too conservative while some said he was too liberal. But when he passed away recently, everyone was lining up to say how much they respected him for standing strong for what he believes.

Christians can learn a valuable lesson from this. Why do we expect all pastors to agree with us on the smallest of issues? And when they don’t agree with us we are quick to make mountains out of molehills. Even if we disagree on minor issues, let’s show our respects to great Christians before they are gone. Maybe they will put in a good word for us when they get to heaven. :-)

Teens will be meeting tonight in the gym at 7. There will be pizza…enough said.

Sunday, June 3rd

Filed under: Sunday Review — Phyllis Rice @ 5:44 am

I pray everyone had a great weekend. We certainly did. It was again such a pleasure to be able to worship and serve with such a great group of people. You all make it possible for the services to take place.

We started our heroes series with the Apostle Peter. What a great example of a REAL hero. I am amazed as I learn about Peter. The fact that he failed God so many times and yet was so loved by our Lord Jesus. It should give us all hope since we do the same. And guess what? He still loves us. Wow!

The ladies will continue to study the book of Esther in SS. We are having a great time and I truly love the time we get to spend together. Thanks to all you ladies who are so faithful and have a real desire to know more about God’s Word.
