I was walking this morning at the track and was thinking about Jaime going back to school.  There are so many things to think about like supplies, schedules, activities, etc. I will admit that I am one of those mom’s that doesn’t get real excited about back to school. But it also made me think about our midweek activities for the youth. Most of you know that I am not a huge fan of the AWANA “program”.  Not that there is anything wrong with the teaching material.  I just don’t care for how the program is designed.  It has not been determined whether we will continue with AWANA, therefore, we all need to be praying about it.  Please share your ideas if you have something in mind.Â

Continued
I want to take just a few sentences to elaborate on yesterday’s subject. Please read if you haven’t already. Phyllis had a very good point that we can’t always push Jesus down people’s throats and I believe that is what also keeps people from talking about Him. Have you ever read the book “The Coffee House Gospel”. It is about sharing your faith in every day conversations and it is worth the reading.

Let’s talk about Jesus
Please forgive me for posting so late. It has, for some reason, been Monday. It is 5:10 and I am just now feeling like I have a little control over my day. Soooo, I need a little encouragement and I thought you guys could help me out.  I have been trying to make the extra effort to bring Jesus into my everyday conversation. You know, share my blessings. I did have numerous conversations about Him today but Looking back, I can honestly say that there were times that I should have spoke up but didn’t.  I am still excited about Sunday’s message and it has reminded me to talk about Jesus and be excited about what he is doing in my life.   We need to be aware of the times when we can bring Jesus into our everyday conversations and be a light. You never know what could happen in others when we talk about Jesus.Â

WOW
Good Monday morning to everyone. It has been very busy thus far.Â
We had another great Sunday at Mt. Jackson. It began in SS for me and was great throughout the entire day. Kenny as usual did a great job singing “I know who holds tomorrow”, The choir was strong sounding with “Oh how I love Jesus”. I believe each and everyone of us meant it. Julia did a great job singing the Voice of Truth. If any of you have not had the opportunity to hear Casting Crowns, I encourage you to do so.Â
It was so good to see Debbie and hear her testimony. She has sure been through the fire and her humble spirit encourages me. Debbie, we love you. Â
Pastor Charley brought a wonderful message that made me want to shout outloud.   Worship is more than an action but an attitude.  And we sure did Worship last night in Kids church. What a beautiful sight seeing all those hands raised praising Jesus.  We adults could take a lesson from our kids.   Â
There are many people to pray for today and many needs among our family, but today especially,  let’s all remember Carl Bradley when we talk to Jesus.Â
Let’s also remember Pastor Charley and Phyllis as they travel. Â
I hope everyone has a great day!!!Â

Make your best effort to be there this week so you can be a part of this special Sunday.
We love you all and I hope you have a great week.

Dollywood Trip
We are so thankful for the safe trip yesterday to Dollywood. We are all very tired this morning but we had a great time. We left about 5:00 am Tuesday morning and returned at midnight last night. The kids were all very good and the trip was a lot of fun. There are some pictures here. Thank you for your prayers.

Our Kids are Our Future.
Well, just wanted to take a moment to say that I love our children in our church and it was a good sight to see them all excited this morning in the church parking lot getting ready to leave for Dollywood. There is nothing that is any better for me than for Jaime to be excited about being with his church friends. Mt. Jackson has tried to focus more on our children during this summer and will be attempting to do so through the upcoming winter season. Please be praying for them and let’s not forget to be respectful, thoughtful, encouraging, attentive, etc., to them because they are our future and we have the priviledge of being a part of their journey for the Lord. Lord Bless them today.Â

Sunday, August 5th
I decided to add a little more info about yesterdays service since I think it is worth adding. Our 11:00 service was about the fire and so many of us can relate. We have all been there or are there right now. The message title was “Walking in the Fire”. Though we don’t enjoy the fire, walking in it with our Lord with us as He was these three men in Daniel, will
1. Reinforce fellowship
2. Remove bonds
3. Reveal testimony
Though they are not pleasant, they are to our benefit.
We were not on our A game yesterday as far as music, but we had a great time praising the Lord in song. (Ronnie and Drema we missed you)
I’d also like to mention the ladies SS class where we had a great discussion on forgiveness and how unforgiveness turns to bitterness. The CC also had that same lesson on Sunday night.
I’m so thankful the Lord brought out youth back safely from their camping trip. I heard they had a wonderful time. They will be taking a trip to Dollywood tomorrow. They will leave at 5:00 am. Yes you did read that right. That’s so early. Please pray for their safe travels.
Hope you all have a great week!

Special Requests
Those of you who have expressed an interest in leaving comments on Pastor Charley’s blog will be glad to know that we have set it up where you can now do so. So be sure to check it out. Today there is a new post about his brother and a special prayer request. I’ve copied his post to this one today so you can read it here too.
My brother (Rusty) is in the Leiber Correction Institute ministering to many inmates. They have started a church and are seeing many people give their lives to Jesus. This is a great ministry! Just this last week a Muslim surrendered his life to Christ. This is great, but . . . now the other Muslims in prison are enraged.
I don’t understand this mentality. I mean, if a professing Christian converted to Islam, I would be sorry for him, but not enraged. I would not threaten his life, or the life of the one who converted him, or the lives of the other mosque members. But this is being done against my brother, the convert, and their church. It seems to me, in the USA, we should be free to choose our religion without threat of bodily harm.
But this freedom of religion does not always apply in prison! So . . .
*Be thankful that we have Christianity: a religion of free choice, not one coerced by bodily force.
*Be thankful that we have a government that gives us the freedom to choose our religion.
*Be praying for those who are being threatened for Christ.

A great post at Connecting Points
Today I’d like to send you over to Meredith’s Blog for a great article called “Portrait of a Good Church”. This article came from a sermon preached by her pastor and our former assistant pastor. I thought you all might enjoy reading it and giving it some thought. You can find it here. If you have comments you can leave them on this post. Hope you all have a great day.
