Please remember the Harvest Festival tomorrow night from 6-8pm. Please come out and join us for a night of fun and help ensure the kids have a good time.  I am planning on having a blast. Dont’ forget your costume.
Don’t forget the time change this weekend. Don’t be late for church. Â
On a sad note: Please remember Donna Coleman and her family in your prayers. Her father (Mr. Ratcliffe) passed away. Donna, we are here for you!!!Â
Just a quick note to you all for the wonderful party and all the generous gifts for pastor appreciation. You all have been so wonderful to make sure that both our pastors know they are appreciated. A special thanks to the ladies who worked so hard with all the food.
Julia did a wonderful job with the pictures and I hope to have them ready to post by Wednesday. Hope you all have a great week.
Let’s Toot the Pastor’s horn for a minute. October is Pastor Appreciation Month and I want to take this opportunity to thank our Pastors for all they do everyday to guide us through life. I can not imagine walking in their shoes for one day.  Pastor Harmon, has served our congregation for many years and has now passed the Mt Jackson torch to Pastor Charley.  Pastor Charley, I know your job is often a thankless job and I also know that you always give God the credit for anything that it done for his Glory.   But right now, I want to thank you for all of your service to my family. You and Phyllis have been there through a lot of trials in my family and we are so thankful to God for you.  You give of your time so willingly and I want you to know that it doesn’t go unnoticed. So I am just going to say “Thank you”. And, thank you for being our Pastor. We love you.Â
I want to encourage everyone regardless of where you worship to let your Pastor know that they are appreciated.Â
I came across these verses this morning and wanted to share them. I think you will agree they are good ones.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
I heard a new song. Well, I should say that it is new to me. I don’t know who sings it or how old it is but I really enjoyed it. I don’t even know the name but it has words something like this.  When I fall, I think about home and the place You made for me. I think about Grace, the Grace that set me free, etc, etc, etc.  I am going to try to find it because it really had a good message about how when we fall, ” And we WILL fall” that Jesus is still there waiting to comfort us.  I thought about Pastor Charley’s message when I heard it and again it drove the message home to me. Has anyone heard this song? I know I gave you a lot of details but if you have let me know. Hope everyone has a great and Blessed day.Â
Yesterday was awesome. We had a wonderful service from Beginning to end. Kenny started us off with some wonderful hymns. Pastor Harmon did a church favorite with the choir. Pam and Angie helped Kenny with a special and then Kenny did a great special too. Pastor Rice again preached about the adulterous woman and elaborated on what our attitude should be to those like her. Hint… it was the same attitude Jesus had. Then we ended the the service with a special “It’s different Now”. because we realized that it is only by God’s grace that we are not in the circumstance. But then so many of us have that pride thing going on and we don’t even realize it. Something for us all to think about this week.
3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

You know it is fall of the year and most everyone enjoys the beauty of God’s forrests during this time in the Four Seasons Area.  The other day, I was driving home from work and was reviewing the process that I learned years ago about the leaves and how they get their color. It reminded me of how God’s Word is the sap in our lives. If we are saturated in It then our outward appearance shows His strength in us. Even as the sap falls the leaves remain in a beautiful state for a while but when it is all drained, then the trees become bare. So it is with us when we begin to slack on studying God’s Word, we can still keep up the beauty for a short while but eventually we will run out and what is left behind doesn’t show to others. My point being if we don’t keep ourselves saturated in God, by studying His Word and meditating through song, thoughts and service, then we too can be sustained for a while but will eventually lose our lustre.  I so need to be more disciplined in my study habits.
God help me to saturate myself and study more because I fall so short in this area.Â
First, let me say that I walked away from yesterday’s service saying that that was one of our best yet. God truly was with us and made His presence known.
Kenny started us out with 2 great songs about the Blood. Then a special from Brenda (I can’t even Walk) was beautiful.
Pastor Charley’s message about the attitude of our Lord when He encountered the woman caught in adultery. A good reminder to us about our attitudes.
Last night the children had a lesson on how we should give God the credit for the good things we do. When we don’t, pride is the result and that is not a pretty attribute for a Christian.
Please begin to pray early this week for the next Sunday service. If everyone in our church did so, imagine what could happen. Also remember the kids this Saturday as they travel to Carowinds.
I have been reading up a little on the subject of thankfulness and of course in order to be thankful, you have to count your blessings. One of the things we can be thankful for is the fact that God’s has chosen to send new people to our church every week. It seems like Charley and I have this conversation each week. We are amazed by the new people we have attending regularly and the visitors that pop in every week. We are so thankful for that.
But I would like to encourage you this week to do something that is most effective when it come to reaching others. And that is your personal invitations to them. Only you can express to them how God is moving at Mt. Jackson and that you would love for them to be a part of it. So, this week make it a point to call up that person that you have been thinking about inviting and ask them to join you at church this week. Also, invite someone who doesn’t come to Sunday school. The personal interaction we enjoy in a small group is vital. So, remember you have 2 more days to call. Start thinking of the person God would have you invite.
