It’s all about Jesus!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — brendabeckner @ 6:31 pm

It is Christmas time and my favorite time of the year.  I love  everything about Christmas including the trees, decorations, social gatherings, presents, etc.  But I also love reminding people that “Jesus is the reason for the Season”  Sometimes, I think we too, as Christians, get so caught up in the commercialism of the season that we miss out on opportunities to tell others about Jesus.  So to keep this short and sweet–Let’s all make a pact that we will use this Christmas season to share the true meaning of Christmas every chance we get.   We don’t have to be obnoxious but there are so many ways to bring up the name of Jesus to just tell others what he has done for us and what an honor for us to share in his Birthday.

We were especially blessed yesterday to have the guys from Teen Challenge with us for the Sunday morning service. Everyone commented about what a blessing it was to hear the testimonies of how God had spared the lives of these young men and delivered them from a life of addiction.

Thanks to all the ladies who had a part in the meal afterward. As always, the food was the best.

Thankfulness

Filed under: General — brendabeckner @ 7:14 pm

Well, the day has been long but it has been a good day.  God allowed me to live one more day and spend a little more time with my family.  What are we thankful for?  I wanted to tell you what I am most thankful for but there are so many, I can’t begin to tell you how much God has blessed me.  Of course, I am most thankful for salvation and I am very thankful for my family.   I believe in my heart that God chose Jim and Jaime, just for me.   I have so many things it is just too much to tell you but I can say that we need to be more thankful for the little things too.  I thank God for our technology today, including medical practices, appliances, etc.  I was thinking while I was driving of all those little things we take for granite every day.   So I am going to share a secret with you.  Every day and I mean every day, I thank God for TOILETS.  I know, you think I am putting on but I am not.  Every day, when I go to the restroom, I thank God for the potty because, I would have a very difficult time going to the outhouse.  We are so BLESSED!!!

Seasons

Filed under: Uncategorized — brendabeckner @ 3:17 pm

Today is more of a personal message rather than church related; however, who better to call on then my church family when my heart is heavy.   As many of you know, my boss (Sandra Wright-47 yrs old) was diagnosed with cancer and has been very ill.  We as a facility have been limited in what support we can give to her and her family because she is in Pittsburgh.  Today, we received the call that she is in the season of change in her life and they do not expect her to live beyond today.   It reminds of me of Pastor John’s message again, There is a time to die.   She has two children 16 and 7.  Please pray her husband, Russ and their two children.

Because Season’s change, take today and make the most of it.  Kiss your husband/wife and tell them you love them.  Hug your kids regardless of how mad you are at them.  Take time to eat dinner at the table and talk.  Tell your friends that you love them and are there for them when times get hard.    Turn the TV off and together count your blessings as a family and talk about what Jesus has done for you.  Life is precious and it slips away so quickly.  Most of all, if you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior, today is the best day to trust in him.  Your life will never be the same.

Sunday, November 11

Filed under: Sunday Review — Phyllis Rice @ 2:50 pm

What a blessing to have the former assistant pastor John Houghton with us yesterday. He had a great message and did some singing for us too. We even through in a last minute song.
The music was a blessing as well.

And as usual our ladies came through with a wonderful meal. Many who were there for the first time commented on how good the food was. We do have some great cooks.

Julia took a few pictures for us and you can see those here.

Thank You!

Filed under: Uncategorized — brendabeckner @ 2:18 pm

Just a thank you to everyone that made the Harvest Festival on Holloween special for everyone.  We had a lot of help and the kids as well as the adults had a wonderful time.

Wanted to remind everyone of Sunday being Homecoming.  Pastor John will be here.  We do need some volunteers to decorate.

Sunday is also Veteran’s Day and where we would be without them.

The  17th is the shopping trip to Roanoke.

Thanksgiving Day is approaching.  Let’s all try to be thankful.  A thankful heart doesn’t have room for bitterness.  I read that in book just yesterday.  Let’s count our Blessings and I promise we will be happier people.
