Last Sunday of 2007

Filed under: Sunday Review — Phyllis Rice @ 12:02 pm

Yesterday was the last Sunday of the year 2007. What a great time we had with our church family. We ended the year with a beautiful song by Julia called “Strange Way to Save the World”, and Brenda did a beautiful job on “The Wonder of Wonders”. Then Pastor Rice gave us a message on the Romans Road. Hopefully we all walked away knowing how to lead someone to Christ.
I would like to say thanks to all of you who made this last year so great. We have been through our ups and down but I am so looking forward to what the Lord will do at Mt. Jackson in the coming year.

Merry Christmas

Filed under: Sunday Review — brendabeckner @ 10:06 am

I have been truly blessed.  Our Church Family at Mt. Jackson had a wonderful Celebration of Jesus last night.   The children did a fantastic job performing a skit while reading the Christmas Story from Luke.  The Ladies Choir sounded great and you could feel that they meant every word of the song.    Communion blessed my heart as I am sure it did many others.   We then had a wonderful time together in the Gym socializing with our Family and enjoying the Goodies.

I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us in 2008.   Merry Christmas.

Prayer request:  Please pray for safety for our Pastor and his family as they travel on Christmas Eve.  They are going to SC and back in one day.

Reminders

Filed under: Uncategorized — brendabeckner @ 11:35 am

Well, Tis the season to be busy.  Just some reminders about upcoming events.

Beginning with tonight:  Ladies fellowship dinner at 7:00pm in the fellowship hall.  Make a dish and come on out.  Turkey is the main dish. I want to challenge any women who may have not been to a meeting all year to come out and enjoy the fellowship.

Sunday morning, December 16th, the ladies will be performing two beautiful songs that they have put together in honor of Christmas.  (Silent Night and Christmas in your Heart)

Sunday December 16th,  We are going Caroling at 6:00pm.   The Poinsetta’s that are around the Christmas tree will be delivered to people in the community as we Carol.  If you haven’t purchased one in memory or honor of someone, you can up until that day, even bring it with you.   We may could even acknowledge those loved ones on the next Sunday morning, if everyone will let me know who they were bought for.

On Sunday night before Caroling, we are asking the kids that are going to be in the skit to be at the church at 5:15 for practice.

Wednesday December 19th will be the last night for the kids on Wednesday night until next year so we are having them Christmas party.  Any adults that want to come over please do.  We would appreciate any donations of finger foods (chkn nugts, pizza bites, chips, pgs in blkt, cookies, drinks, etc. ) You all are always wonderful to give to the kids ministry and we appreciate you doing so. They are our future churches.

Sunday, December 23rd, we will have our Christmas morning service and I have no doubts Charley will present a wonderful Christmas message that we all need.  On Sunday night, Charley has planned to have a Christmas communion service.  The kids will be putting on a small Christmas skit with the Christmas story.  The ladies choir will too sing again.  We will have a our annual Christmas party with refreshments following this service.

I will be spending Christmas Eve with mine and Jim’s family as usual, but for those who will be free that evening, there is a Christmas Eve service being held at the Athens Baptist Church and I am sure they would love to see you if you are free.

Also, don’t forget that the card rack is hanging on the door for Christmas cards.  If anyone needs help just let us know.

If I have forgotten anything, by all means add it.

  Merry Christmas

There is a God!

Filed under: Uncategorized — brendabeckner @ 10:46 am

Well, Winter is here.  Today is the first snow fall and I will be the first to tell you the roads were slick.  I stopped at two accidents and it took me about 50 minutes to get to Blfd VA.  I did a lot of praying on my way to work for so many people who I thought could be in harms way with the snow.  I also worshipped God for the beauty that I saw coming from the sky.  You look around and you have to know that “There is a God” and he is my Saviour.  Look around at the evidence in the atmosphere alone.   There is a new song out called just that and I love it.  From the center of my soul to the ends of the Universe, Creation is crying out, Believe it or not, THERE IS A GOD.    Do you know him?
