Miracles do Happen

Filed under: General — Tags: — brendabeckner @ 12:36 am

It seems to me that people (including Christians) do not always recognize miracles at face value. Often we prayer for a miracle but when it happens we have other reasons to justify it. I have often said that when miracles happen, people want to explain it away and exclude God from it. It is hard to explain so let me share with you this story. I have been following a story on 95.9 “DC and the family” about a 5 year old boy out west who had 4 malignant tumors on his spine and had been receiving treatment. This past week during a hosp/treatment visit, the family was told that the tumors were gone. YES, I said GONE!!! The father told how many people had been praying for him and for a miracle and he received just that. DC, Griff, and the father,Officer Wilson, all said “Praise God” and told that this was the power of Prayer. Now there will be people who want to say that there is some medical reasoning as to why this occured. They will second guess everything and may even say that the treatment just worked but don’t you think we need to give God all the Glory and accept the miracle for what it is–A Miracle. Yes, we know that God also performs miracles through people, such as Doctors and I don’t want to discount that, but my heart jumps for joy when God performs miracles and the Doctors can’t explain it. We know God heals physically, mentally, psychosocially, and spiritually, but often times we want to explain it away instead of recognizing it as A Miracle from God. I just wanted to share this because it was truly remarkable listening to these people give God and God alone all of the recognition for this healing.  It was also very inspiring to me in many ways.  So I just want to say that Miracles do Happen. God is so good!!!

Love and Thankfulness

Filed under: General — brendabeckner @ 10:55 am

Today is a day that my heart has been overflowing with love.  Have you every loved someone so much that it hurts?  Sometimes when I think about my family, my heart is overflowing with love and thankfulness for them that it will actually feel as though it will burst.  I was captured by that feeling again this morning when I dropped Jaime off at school.   He has adjusted so well to his new school this year and I have been so thankful to God for it.  As I drove away thanking God for all his blessings and mercy in our lives, I don’t think I could love Him or my family any more than I did at that moment.

I also then thought about my brothers, my sisters, and my church family.  I love you all more than you will know.   I missed you all Sunday so much and I am thankful for you and all the blessings that you give back to me.

A note from Heaven

Filed under: General — brendabeckner @ 4:11 pm

Hello my family,  I have a poem I want to share with you.  It is on the front of a sympathy card that I received from Kitty and let me tell you, it has been an inspiration to me.  I have always been one to send cards to people and often thought whether they were truly encouraged by them or not.  So that being said, I have truly been blessed by all of the cards I have received and have been comforted by them.  So send a card to someone and I can assure you that it will be gladly received.

A Note from Heaven

If I could write from Heaven,                                                                                                       This is what Id’ say,                                                                                                                          Please don’t miss me too much,                                                                                                  I’m with you throughout your day.                                                                                            You may not see or hear me,                                                                                                      But if you’re quiet and still,                                                                                                         You may just feel my presence;                                                                                               because in Heaven, there is free will.                                                                                     Don’t worry for the day,                                                                                                                   it will come and go as planned,                                                                                                    Enjoy each moment you are given,                                                                                             keep worry from your hand.                                                                                                          Keep sorrow to a minimum;                                                                                                           For if Heaven you could see,                                                                                                   You’d know I’m safe and happy,                                                                                                      I did not cease to be.                                                                                                                Moments in time are brief,                                                                                                           until we’ll be together again,                                                                                                           As Eternity last forever                                                                                                                     our lives, they have no end.

It brings joy to my heart to know that Mom has arrived.

Welcome to Our New Families

Filed under: General — Phyllis Rice @ 10:27 pm

We want to welcome the 2 families who joined Mt. Jackson yesterday. They are the Church family (Laura, Jack, Deana, and Carley). Then we also had Jim and Jeanne Hamlin join. These folks have been coming for a few months now and we are so happy they have decided to be a part of us. If you have not had a chance to welcome these families make sure you let them know they are welcome as soon as possible.

Thankfulness

Filed under: General — brendabeckner @ 7:14 pm

Well, the day has been long but it has been a good day.  God allowed me to live one more day and spend a little more time with my family.  What are we thankful for?  I wanted to tell you what I am most thankful for but there are so many, I can’t begin to tell you how much God has blessed me.  Of course, I am most thankful for salvation and I am very thankful for my family.   I believe in my heart that God chose Jim and Jaime, just for me.   I have so many things it is just too much to tell you but I can say that we need to be more thankful for the little things too.  I thank God for our technology today, including medical practices, appliances, etc.  I was thinking while I was driving of all those little things we take for granite every day.   So I am going to share a secret with you.  Every day and I mean every day, I thank God for TOILETS.  I know, you think I am putting on but I am not.  Every day, when I go to the restroom, I thank God for the potty because, I would have a very difficult time going to the outhouse.  We are so BLESSED!!!

Toot Toot

Filed under: General, News — brendabeckner @ 8:45 am

Let’s Toot the Pastor’s horn for a minute.  October is Pastor Appreciation Month and I want to take this opportunity to thank our Pastors for all they do everyday to guide us through life.  I can not imagine walking in their shoes for one day.   Pastor Harmon, has served our congregation for many years and has now passed the Mt Jackson torch to Pastor Charley.   Pastor Charley, I know your job is often a thankless job and I also know that you always give God the credit for anything that it done for his Glory.    But right now, I want to thank you for all of your service to my family.  You and Phyllis have been there through a lot of trials in my family and we are so thankful to God for you.   You give of your time so willingly and I want you to know that it doesn’t go unnoticed.  So I am just going to say “Thank you”.  And, thank you for being our Pastor.  We love you.

I want to encourage everyone regardless of where you worship to let your Pastor know that they are appreciated.

Songs

Filed under: General — brendabeckner @ 10:30 am

I heard a new song.  Well, I should say that it is new to me.  I don’t know who sings it or how old it is but I really enjoyed it.  I don’t even know the name but it has words something like this.   When I fall, I think about home and the place You made for me.  I think about Grace, the Grace that set me free, etc, etc, etc.   I am going to try to find it because it really had a good message about how when we fall, ” And we WILL fall” that Jesus is still there waiting to comfort us.   I thought about Pastor Charley’s message when I heard it and again it drove the message home to me.  Has anyone heard this song? I know I gave you a lot of details but if you have let me know.  Hope everyone has a great and Blessed day.
