Wow, we really got our toes stepped on yesterday didn’t we? We are commanded to serve the Lord. That’s the lesson we learned from God’s word. We also had that same basic lesson in our SS class. (Not planned, by the way) Again music that encouraged us to do what we were born to do. Born to Serve the Lord. Kenny and Pastor Hamon did a wonderful job on their songs. We do all need to ask God to show us in what area He would have us to serve others.

The kids had a little wrap up party last night too. We closed our series “Heroes of Mega City” and will next week begin our series called “Shipwrecked”. I look forward to it being every bit as good as the other.

Look for anouncements later on this week, a post from Brenda tomorrow, and another poem written by Bill Vance. God bless you all and have a great week.

WOW

Good Monday morning to everyone.  It has been very busy thus far.

We had another great Sunday at Mt. Jackson.  It began in SS for me and was great throughout the entire day. Kenny as usual did a great job singing “I know who holds tomorrow”, The choir was strong sounding with “Oh how I love Jesus”.  I believe each and everyone of us meant it.  Julia did a great job singing the Voice of Truth.  If any of you have not had the opportunity to hear Casting Crowns, I encourage you to do so.

It was so good to see Debbie and hear her testimony.  She has sure been through the fire and her humble spirit encourages me.  Debbie, we love you.

Pastor Charley brought a wonderful message that made me want to shout outloud.   Worship is more than an action but an attitude.   And we sure did Worship last night in Kids church.  What a beautiful sight seeing all those hands raised praising Jesus.   We adults could take a lesson from our kids.

There are many people to pray for today and many needs among our family, but today especially,  let’s all remember Carl Bradley when we talk to Jesus.

Let’s also remember Pastor Charley and Phyllis as they travel.

I hope everyone has a great day!!!

I decided to add a little more info about yesterdays service since I think it is worth adding. Our 11:00 service was about the fire and so many of us can relate. We have all been there or are there right now. The message title was “Walking in the Fire”. Though we don’t enjoy the fire, walking in it with our Lord with us as He was these three men in Daniel, will
1. Reinforce fellowship
2. Remove bonds
3. Reveal testimony
Though they are not pleasant, they are to our benefit.

We were not on our A game yesterday as far as music, but we had a great time praising the Lord in song. (Ronnie and Drema we missed you)

I’d also like to mention the ladies SS class where we had a great discussion on forgiveness and how unforgiveness turns to bitterness. The CC also had that same lesson on Sunday night.
I’m so thankful the Lord brought out youth back safely from their camping trip. I heard they had a wonderful time. They will be taking a trip to Dollywood tomorrow. They will leave at 5:00 am. Yes you did read that right. That’s so early. Please pray for their safe travels.
Hope you all have a great week!

As we were headed out to Ryans yesterday with our family, James made the comment that Sunday morning’s service might have been the best service we have had so far at Mt. Jackson and I have to agree. And by the way, let me say thank you to the Beckners and the Lamb family for being so generous and sharing their Sunday afternoon with us. We always have a great time with you guys. But back to the service. We had some awesome music. A shelter in the time of storm, In the Shelter of His Arms, Til the storm passes by, and some great specials too. Kenny sang one of my favorite songs, Amy sang one of my favorite songs (Daystar), and the quartet sang one of my favorite songs (There is a Redeemer). Wow, I hope we can say this every Sunday.
This Sunday would not be possible without everyone pitching in and working together. You are all great at that. Thank you so much.
Reminder! Check out the blogs you see on the right side of this page. One is my own personal blog and I would love you to go over and check it out. Have a great week everyone.

Good Morning Everyone! ‘Another great Sunday’ is the best way to describe our service yesterday. We started off with “What a Lovely Name” and “His name is wonderful”. Then Donna helped the choir with “Sheltered in the Arms of God”. Ken Hall did a great song and Pastor Charley sang a thought provoking song. He topped it off with a sermon on Hell.

Again let us say thanks to all those who helped in the VBS. It was a wonderful week.

This Wednesday we will be havng a meeting for all those who want to help with any of the kids programs starting this Fall. We will be having a hot dog supper also so everyone is welcome to come and sit in on the meeting and eat with us. Any questions… contact Donna. Have a great week.

I’m sure you’re all worn out as I am after a day of running yesterday, but it was certainly worth it. We started our Sunday morning off with Mrs. Ramsey going to the different SS classes to promote the VBS that started last night. During the service we had the privilege of a song from Mrs. Ramsey and the message from Mr. Ramsey. He gave us an overview of what we will be hearing this week about Pilgrims Progress.

Last night was the first night of the VBS and we now know we have 2 teams. The blue and the gold. We will keep you updated this week as to which team is ahead. If you didn’t make it last night, come on out tonight. We promise you a good time. See ya there! (pictures later this week)

One Year Anniversary

Our Superhero this week was Mark. Wow, who would have thought. I’m not sure about the rest of you, but Mark is someone who I new little about. But what a blessing to know more now.

The choir sang “Living by Faith” and did a great job. Brenda sang a song that reminded us of the work that still needs to be done. there are many even here in Athens that have never heard the gospel. Kenny and Pastor Harmon also sang 2 great songs.

Last night the kids met a new superhero. This week it was Charles Abernathy and he taught us that heroes are generous. We have also met in the past few weeks Captain Endurance and Lady Truth. The kids are still having a great time.

Next week there will be no CC. because it will be the first night of VBS. We have the privilege of having the Ramsey’s as out guest. They will be doing the story of pilgrims progress. The Ramsey’s do this as a ministry and from what I hear they are great at it. I can’t wait. Remind everyone you know about our VBS. This is for all ages, even adults.

Yesterday was the first anniversary of our first official Sunday at Mt. Jackson. Let me say that we appreciate what you all have meant to us this past year. You have been so encouraging and giving. We cannot say enough how thankful we are for each one of you and your support. We certainly could not do it without you. We look forward to another great year.

Let me just start off this post this morning by saying thanks to the ones of you who are faithful in reading this blog. I’m truly amazed at the number of people who read it.

Yesterday was a great day. We started off the service with a few great hymns and then had three specials. Thanks to those who are always willing to participate in the music. It is such an important part of the service. But we had a real treat when Pastor Harmon preached a sermon on one of the most well known heroes of the Bible, David. Pastor Charley topped it off last night with another sermon about David.

The second Sunday of the new children’s church program was last night and we had a great time. Last week the kids learned about a hero named Captain Endurance and that we should never get tired of doing good. Last night it was Lady Truth. We learned we should always tell the truth even if we get in trouble. I know most of you are not able to be with the kids so here are a few pictures.
I hope you all have a great week, and enjoy your Independence Day.

Good Morning Everyone,
I won’t tell you everything that went wrong yesterday morning, but of course, some of it was obvious. (Sorry Angie and Amy) So, lets dwell on the good. Thanks to all of you who had apart in the music yesterday. We are so thankful for those who give their time to serve our Lord and their church through the music.

Our super hero yesterday was another woman, Rahab. Again, I am amazed at how God takes even the worst of us and will still use us. There’s hope for us all!

We also kicked of our Super hero series for kids last night. We learned that super heroes have endurance. We should never get tired of doing good. I love this program. We got some good comments from the kids and the adults. Thanks to all the kids who came and participated.

Watch out for tomorrow’s post. Brenda will be posting every Tuesday for us. She always has something good.

Again, let me say what a privilege it is to be in this church. This last year has been amazing. I believe we have the best church around and I know we have the best people. God bless every one of you. Hope you all have a great week.
