Let me give credit where credit is due for a great father to Jim who is not only my child's father but my best friend. I know that everyone thinks there husband is great and i am no different. God truly blessed me when he allowed me to have Jim. He is a great Dad and puts his family above himself. He is a wonderful spiritual leader and I thank God for him.

My Dad. Those very words invoke so many memories, I still cry when I think of him. He has been with the Lord since January 20,1978, and that day is etched on my mind forever. He had a massive heart attack around 10 am on a friday. He was my best friend. We would go everywhere together because my brother wouldn't. I never saw or heard my mother and him argue, because they had what I thought was the perfect marriage. He was very strict, but was also very loving. I think that because I have missed him so much that the Lord gave me someone so very much like him in my husband. I have told Bob so many times that he is just like my dad in so many ways. I love them both so much, they are both terrific dads! God Bless all of our fathers, they have a lot of responsibility.

I never pass up an opportunity to talk about my Dad. The problem is that I have a hard time shutting up about him. So I have pondered some things I want people to know about my Dad that I am most proud of.

My Dad died 8 years ago and I think of him everyday. He was one of my best friends. He loved my mom dearly and was such an example of how marriage was suppose to be. My Dad was invited to church as a sinner but an awesome guitar player. The first three weeks he played for our congregation and boy did our Pastor catch flack over that. Allowing a sinner in the pulpit was unheard of but boy am I glad this preacher was willing to stand up for the sinner because 3 weeks later my Dad along with several of us children were saved in that little church and our lives were never the same. I was 12 years old at that time. My Dad played for the Lord until he was unable to and I am so proud of that. Not only did I pray with Dad when we were saved but I was allowed the opportunity to pray with him within minutes of his death. Looking back now I wouldn't trade that for the world. My Dad lived a life of tragedy from the time he was saved. The Devil attacked him for many years but he never lost his drive to serve Jesus. I am proud of the fact that My Dad didn't have to die wondering about my eternal future. He knew I would be there to see him in the future. I thank God for my Dad and who he was in Jesus Christ.

My Dad was so great. He was a very quiet serious man who loved fishing and his family. I lost him 13 years ago (the same year Julia was born) and miss him so much. I have thought about him often this week and will especially remember him this weekend,

My dad has been with Jesus for 45 years and there is not a day goes by that I don't think of him and the wonderful life we had. He was the most loving, kind, gracious, gentle, giving, intelligent man I've ever known. When we children wanted to play games we went to mother, but when we wanted to know something in the Bible or had a question of some kind about history, geography, math, building something we went to daddy. If he didn't know he would say so, but would help us look-up the answer.

My mother always told me, "When you get married, marry a man like your dad." I did. And I told my girls the same thing and I believe they both did.

I am very blessed to have had the grandfather I had (I only knew one of my grandparents), my saintly father and my husband. God has been so good to me and I thank Him every day for those men in my life.
