Easter Egg Hunt
Posted by James Rice on March 31st, 2007 filed in NewsToday we had an Easter egg hunt at the church. Here are some highlights:
> There were about 600 Easter eggs hidden all around the grounds hear at Mt. Jackson, and we had a blast watching kids frantically trying to find them.
> I think the teens had just as much fun as the little ones. They got fired up when they heard that some of the eggs might have an extra surprise in them. Sprinkled through the hundreds of eggs were a few with some extra cash in them. We actually had more teens than any of the other age group!
> The hot dogs, chili, and chips were delicious. Oh, and the best part…TONS OF CUPCAKES!!!
> We stuffed a bee piñata with candy and hung it from the basketball rim in the gym. The kids grabbed a bat and took a whack at it. After a couple of rounds through someone knocked the bee’s head off and we had Justin finish her off. Kids go crazy when the candy hits the floor!
>We had a drawing for 2 HUGE Easter egg baskets filled with candy and all sorts of other goodies, plus we had a drawings for other smaller prizes.
***The people who volunteer and show up to make these things work are incredible! They gladly sacrifice their Saturday to give the kids in Athens a chance to celebrate Easter with the church. We are the Body of Christ. Spending time with the church is the closest thing to spending time with Jesus Christ Himself.
Basically, we had a great time celebrating the exciting Easter season.
Don’t miss the services tomorrow. YOU WON’T BE DISSAPOINTED. Also, check out the links on the right and click on “church photos” to see the pictures from today’s activities.
