Big sin/Little sin
Posted by brendabeckner on August 21st, 2007 filed in UncategorizedSunday’s sermon prompted numerous conversations/discussions in our household in the past day or so. I wanted to share some food for thought and maybe it can spark some discussions in your household. My husband is very strongly opinionated when it comes to big sins over little sins.  It is his pet peeve that people in general (especially Christians), will focus on big sins, while their dabbling in little sins that they think they are getting by with.  Sins like murder, adultery, liars, molesters, stealing, etc., are getting the big amens but, lets remind ourselves about backbiting, gossip (even when it is the truth), stomping on our neighbors when they are down or in sin, hurting others reputation and character, lack of compassion, and one of my favorites, selfishness. Let’s all be reminded that it is all about Jesus and if we wrap ourselves in him everything else will fall into place.   We need (myself included) to examine ourselves daily and we will find that we dabble in little sin and even though we may not see it, OTHERS DO!!!!

Jesus said it best when he said of the woman caught in adultry. “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. Note that He did not say “Let he who is without big sins cast the first stone”. We are all sinful and in need of big forgiveness.

That is exactly what Jim has been talking about. We all sin and are capable of what may appear to be big or small, but Jim always reminds me that God hates sin regardless of what “we” catagorize it as.
